Howrah, 20 February, 2026: The BC Jindal Foundation, the social arm of the BC Jindal Group, is strengthening employability among youth and women in Howrah through industry-relevant vocational training under its “BC Jindal Skill Centre, Belur, Howrah” initiative. The programme focuses on enhancing socio-economic conditions by providing structured skill development along with assured placement opportunities.

Led by Shyam Sunder Jindal, Promoter, BC Jindal Group, the foundation aims to train over 1,000 candidates annually from marginalized and underserved communities. The training spans nine vocational trades across five sectors—Healthcare, Hospitality, Apparel, IT, and Industrial Tech. The courses include Industrial Electrician, Multi Skill Technician, Sewing Machine Operator, Domestic Data Entry Operator, Child Caretaker, Housekeeping, Food and Beverages Services, Phlebotomy Technician, and General Duty Assistant.

The initiative targets over 70% placement across batches and aims to promote higher women participation while building a skilled workforce aligned with local and regional industry needs. By focusing on short-term, high-demand vocational courses, the foundation seeks to bridge the skill gap and support long-term economic self-reliance.

“The BC Jindal Foundation remains committed to creating value for people, society, and the environment through strategically designed social impact programs. Our Howrah skill centre aims to provide industry-relevant, short-term vocational skill training across high-demand trades to youth and women from underserved communities who lack access to quality skill training aligned with industry requirements. Through such initiatives, we will continue to work towards bridging the skill gap by providing structured vocational training and placement support, to achieve socio-economic growth,” said the spokesperson of BC Jindal Foundation.

The skill centre contributes to multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). The programme also promotes inclusivity by offering skills training to vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities and indigenous communities.

“Our centre has the capacity to train 1,000+ candidates annually and facilitates placement for nearly 70% candidates in relevant trades. After receiving an encouraging response, we plan to scale the program by expanding trade offerings, strengthening industry partnerships, and increasing training capacity,” added the spokesperson.

For FY26, the BC Jindal Foundation has planned an investment of ₹40 crore across various CSR initiatives in healthcare, skill development, animal welfare, and nutrition. The BC Jindal Group, founded in 1952 by Shri B.C. Jindal, operates across packaging films, energy, and steel products, and plans to expand CSR operations in states including West Bengal, Delhi, Haryana, and Maharashtra.
