New Delhi, February 20, 2025: Bajaj Foundation, in collaboration with UNICEF YuWaah and with support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), has launched an e-waste awareness and reduction campaign. The initiative will engage over 100,000 students across 650 schools in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu to promote responsible e-waste disposal and sustainable practices.

With India generating 2.6 million tonnes of e-waste annually and projections indicating a rise to 82 million tonnes by 2030, this campaign aims to instill long-term behavioral change. It aligns with the National Education Policy (2020) and leverages the eco-club framework under Samagra Shiksha to enhance environmental education.

Supported by UNICEF YuWaah and its partners, the campaign will conduct workshops on e-waste management across 50 schools per city, establishing collection points in schools and centralized locations to ensure proper recycling through authorized channels.

Mr. Pankaj Bajaj, Founder & Director, Bajaj Foundation, stated, "By integrating e-waste awareness into the education system, we aim to inspire students to take responsibility for the environment. This campaign not only encourages proper disposal but fosters a culture of sustainability."

Abhishek Gupta, COO, YuWaah at UNICEF, added, "This initiative supports Prime Minister Modi's LiFE (Lifestyle for the Environment) mission and strengthens our ongoing collaborations with MoEF&CC and DoSEL. By empowering young people, we are cultivating future environmental leaders."

This initiative builds on Mission LiFE and addresses the gap in e-waste-related actions, currently constituting only 7% of environmental initiatives, setting a precedent for scalable environmental action in India.
