New Delhi, September 26, 2023. The Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) has unveiled its plans for the 2024 AVPN Global Conference, themed ‘One Asia, One Future’. This annual flagship event, organized by AVPN, will take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), from April 23 to April 25 in partnership with Abu Dhabi. The AVPN Global Conference is a significant gathering that brings together leading investors, funders, philanthropists, policymakers, and Limited Partners from around the world to focus on channelling capital for social impact in Asia. Every year, the conference selects a different host city to ensure diversity and representation of the vibrant social impact sector across Asia.
Building upon the achievements of the 2023 edition held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which saw more than 1,300 attendees from over 40 markets participating in global discussions, AVPN plans to continue fostering discourse and collaborative initiatives. The previous conference marked the launch of various frameworks, papers, and initiatives, including a USD 3 million fund targeting youth mental wellbeing.
Naina Subberwal Batra, CEO of AVPN said, “Based on current progress, Asia as a region will require another 42 years to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The urgency to scale up investments to address the food, energy, social, and environmental challenges in Asia is at an increasingly critical level. The social investor ecosystem needs to go straight to the heart of our region’s most pressing issues, and the AVPN Global Conference is the leading platform to facilitate meaningful action across the region through the “Continuum of Capital”.
The upcoming 2024 Conference in Abu Dhabi will span three and a half days, gathering over 1,500 social investors worldwide. It will feature a diverse program, including plenaries, sessions, contributions from industry experts, live impact showcases, workshops, masterclasses, and other activities. Previous years' conferences have featured experts from organizations such as BlackRock, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Khazanah Nasional Berhad, KKR, Temasek Foundation, and Piramal Foundation.
