New Delhi, May 2, 2024: In a bid to tackle economic disparity and uplift marginalised women, a 16-year-old boy has launched a grassroots initiative centered on microfinance which has empowered over 1,000 people from disadvantaged communities.
Motivated by his ancestral village's resilience in Haryana, Vivaan Garg founded Ignite India at 14 to make a tangible difference in the lives of the most vulnerable. Through Vivaan's initiative, over 1000 marginalized women have received crucial financial assistance, allowing them to pursue their dreams of entrepreneurship and financial stability.
Vivaan was deeply moved by the struggles of women in disadvantaged communities. Ignite India provides them with loans and teaches essential skills like money management and business basics. Expanding its reach beyond Delhi, Ignite India collaborates with municipal bodies in states like Haryana and Punjab through its team of 50 volunteers. Through strategic partnerships with established microfinance NGOs, it facilitates access to microloans for women, empowering them to realize entrepreneurial aspirations. This concerted effort ignites a wave of economic empowerment and social change, demonstrating Vivaan's commitment to uplifting marginalized communities nationwide.
With a team of over 50 dedicated volunteers, the organization has identified and supported more than 850 women in bases like Indira Colony and Shakurpur in New Delhi. Through strategic partnerships with established NGOs in the microfinance sector, Vivaan’s initiative has facilitated access to microloans for hundreds of women, empowering them to turn their dreams of entrepreneurship into reality.
Speaking on his initiative, Vivaan shares, "I started Ignite India after seeing how tough life is for women in my ancestral village. Their strength inspired me to help. I want to give them means & support to make life better. With Ignite, we're not just offering financial aid; we're empowering women to become self-reliant. Our goal is to create a world where every woman has the opportunity to chart her own path to success, regardless of her background or circumstances."
But Ignite India's mission goes beyond financial assistance. Recognizing the importance of financial literacy in building sustainable livelihoods, the organization has developed a comprehensive curriculum tailored specifically for microloan beneficiaries. From managing finances to navigating government schemes, this innovative program equips women with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in today's economy.
