Bengaluru, Sept 9, 2024: Aiming at providing meaningful employability skills training and professional development for transgender talent, financial services company Wells Fargo has broadened its talent attraction strategy by launching the Transgender Persons Hiring Program in India. Building on the program’s initial pilot with its 2022 cohort of 13 individuals hired in its technology function, the company aims to train and attract additional talent across multiple lines of businesses in 2024.
In partnership with the community organization PeriFerry, the company currently sponsors 30 transgender individuals focused on enhancing their options for employment and building a robust talent pipeline at Wells Fargo. The company emphasizes a structured learning curriculum and an optimized employee experience pathway to ensure seamless integration and success for new hires.
Uday Odedra, executive vice president and Region head of Wells Fargo India & Philippines, said: “Investing in diverse communities to upskill and unlock potential and, at the same time, setup the right environment for success is a critical area of focus for Wells Fargo. We look to be the employer of choice for inclusivity, and are proud of our partnership with PeriFerry and support for the transgender community.”
Sneha Suresh, executive director, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion leader, Wells Fargo India & Philippines, said: “Our recently launched Transgender Persons Hiring Program that is unique to India, underscores our dedication to reflecting the communities in which we operate. By offering meaningful employment and professional opportunities to transgender individuals, we are not only enhancing our workforce diversity but also driving a culture of inclusion that everyone can thrive in.”
Wells Fargo conducts regular check-ins postplacement and connects our new hires with allies and employee resource networks. These ongoing support mechanisms are vital for ensuring a smooth integration into the workplace.
As part of our commitment to continually enhance the inclusive environment, Wells Fargo India conducts sensitization and awareness sessions with community partners, such as Periferry. These sessions are curated for hiring managers, buddies/mentors, and support teams to foster better understanding of lived experiences and workplace culture.
Wells Fargo has an active Pride Connection Employee Resource Network (ERN), advocating for LGBTQ employees, customers, and allies. The Pride Connection ERN facilitates reverse mentoring, promotes visible allyship, and engages senior leadership to support all employees. They organize floor huddles, conferences, rainbow conversations, and training sessions to ensure day to day inclusivity across the business.
