SBICAPS and Habitat for Humanity India hand over four refurbished healthcare centers in Palghar

Mumbai, December 01, 2023: Habitat for Humanity India, a leading housing non-profit organization, and SBI Capital Markets Limited (SBICAPS), India’s foremost investment bank have collectively completed and handed over four refurbished healthcare centers in the Dahanu block of Palghar district, Maharashtra. The centers will cater to over 71,000 people in the community.  

The healthcare centers were officially handed over to district medical authorities on December 1, 2023. The project focused on repairing and refurbishing the Primary Health Centre of Malwada, the sub-centre of Ranshet, and the dispensaries of Dabhadi and Chalani. These centers are expected tooffer essential healthcare services to the local community. The repair and refurbishment work encompassed external and internal plastering, painting, improved sanitation units, as well as overall plumbing, roofing, and electrical work.

Commenting on the partnership, James Samuel, National Director (Interim), Habitat for Humanity India said, “We are excited to partner with SBI Capital Markets to build improved healthcare centres in Palghar. The refurbished infrastructure will help the medical team perform their duties in healthier working conditions and will enable them to provide their services to low-income families in the region efficiently. Habitat for Humanity India is committed to put people at the centre of its work.”

SBICAPS, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, has been actively supporting social initiatives in healthcare, education, environment, poverty alleviation, child development, vocational training, and women empowerment. The focus on the 'upgradation of primary healthcare facilities' aligns with the company's commitment to making basic healthcare accessible. Over the past three years, SBICAPS has supported 15 Primary Healthcare Centers (PHC) and 1 Community Healthcare Center across various districts of Maharashtra, contributing to the strengthening of the primary healthcare system and addressing the health and well-being needs of diverse communities.
