RPG Group implements initiatives for LGBTQIA+ inclusion and employee well-being

Mumbai, June 29, 2023: RPG Group, a prominent conglomerate in India, has recently announced initiatives aimed at promoting LGBTQIA+ inclusion and enhancing employee well-being. The company's efforts reflect a commitment to diversity and equality within its workforce.

Harsh Goenka, Chairman of RPG Group, emphasized the responsibility of embracing diversity, stating, "Embracing diversity is not just a choice, it's a responsibility. Together, let's create a world where love, acceptance, and equality reign."

One of the significant initiatives introduced by RPG Group is the LGBTQIA+ and Partners Benefits Policy. This policy grants comprehensive benefits to employees and their partners, regardless of sexual orientation or marital status. It recognizes partners, regardless of their sexual orientation, as equivalent to spouses, allowing them access to benefits such as insurance coverage, leaves, social security, and retirement benefits. The policy also ensures that legally adopted children of employees' partners are recognized as dependents, extending the benefits to the entire family unit.

RPG Group has also taken steps to increase the representation of transgender individuals within its workforce. In 2022, the company progressively started hiring transgender individuals across its factories and offices in CEAT and KEC, contributing to equal employment opportunities and a more diverse work environment.

S 'Venky' Venkatesh, President of Group HR at RPG Group, expressed the organization's commitment to inclusivity, saying, "We are proud to lead the way in creating inclusive, safe, and happy work environments for our employees. Our LGBTQIA+ and Partners Benefits Policy reflects our belief in equality and recognizes the importance of extending benefits to all partners, regardless of sexual orientation. We lay equal emphasis on mental health as we do on physical health, which is why we have tied up with a mental health care clinic to provide free services to our employees. These initiatives are a testament to our commitment to creating a more inclusive environment for all RPG Group members."

In addition to LGBTQIA+ inclusion, RPG Group places a strong emphasis on employee happiness, well-being, and safety. The organization has developed a proprietary framework to gauge the Happiness Quotient of its employees, allowing for the implementation of initiatives, policies, and practices that promote employee satisfaction. Each RPG Group company is guided by a Happiness Council, comprising senior leadership members who drive organization-wide initiatives.

To ensure safe workspaces free from harassment, RPG Group has introduced R-Shield, a dedicated 24x7 helpline empowering employees to report any form of harassment. The helpline extends its support to address various types of harassment, including sexual harassment, non-binary gender harassment, bullying, body shaming, ageism, racism, ethnicity, and disabilities. It is managed by an external team of legal experts and psychologists to ensure impartiality and provide a safe platform for employees to voice their concerns.

To prioritize mental well-being, RPG Group has partnered with Juno Clinic to offer free access to mental health practitioners for RPG employees and their family members.
