Gurugram, January 26, 2024: Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) and The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF) collaborated from January to December 2023 to support the food and nutritional needs of children in Government schools of New Delhi. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to building a healthier future by fostering a robust and educated workforce.
Key Outcomes of the Project:
- NMIPL supported TAPF in providing 50 lakh nutritious meals to students in 2023.
- The program positively impacted over 49,000 students from low-income communities.
- Meals were distributed to over 300 schools, contributing to the health and well-being of each child.
- Well-nourished children are more likely to thrive academically, improving performance and creating increased opportunities for their future endeavors.
The School Meal Program, sponsored by Nissan Motor India, has been effectively implemented through four Akshaya Patra kitchens in New Delhi. This program aligns with the objectives of the Mid-Day Meal initiative by the government, addressing issues such as food security, nutrition enhancement, increased school attendance, reduced dropout rates, and elimination of discrimination among children.
The program's impact on reducing micronutrient deficiencies and strengthening children's immunity against infections has been complemented by regular consumption of Mid-Day Meals. This has improved overall well-being by decreasing anemia prevalence and promoting healthy weight and height development, crucial for their educational journey.
