Bengaluru, December 06, 2023: Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) recently backed MITTI Café in launching India's first food truck operated by Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). This initiative aims to provide livelihoods for PwDs while raising awareness and sensitization towards the cause.
As an organization focusing on sustainable mobility, MBRDI contributes to the skilling and job-readiness of PwDs aspiring to be software engineers by enhancing their IT domain and workplace soft skills. To date, the company has provided IT skilling and facilitated employment for 200 aspiring software engineers with disabilities across various multinational corporations.
MBRDI is actively involved in supporting startups dedicated to improving the quality of life for PwDs through mobility solutions. Through seed funding and technical mentorship, these startups are working on innovative mobility aids, including prosthetic limbs, customizable wheelchairs, and India's first-ever standing crutch.
In solidarity with #IDPD2023, the three-pointed star logo atop the Embassy Crest Bengaluru office was lit up in purple, symbolizing MBRDI's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on People with Disabilities.
