New Delhi/Meerut, Sept 9, 2024: Max Healthcare Foundation, the CSR arm of Max Healthcare, on Monday announced successful completion and rejuvenation of a pond in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to water conservation and sustainable community development.

The project will benefit around 2,500 community members and has the potential to recharge around 57 million litres of water annually.

Max Healthcare Foundation works in the areas of education, skilling, and water conservation. As part of this initiative, Max Healthcare Foundation has partnered with Neer Foundation, an NGO working in water conservation space, to recharge the village pond to ensure a steady and reliable source of water for the local community.

The pond, which was in a state of disrepair, has now been transformed and will help the community meet its water requirements and ensure sustainable water usage for the future. The rejuvenation project focused on deepening the pond, de-silting, and ensuring proper water channels for natural inflow.

The rejuvenated pond was handed over to the village community by Arun Govil, Member of Parliament from Meerut, in the presence of Taruna Soi, Chairperson of Max Healthcare Foundation and other dignitaries including Raman Kant, the President of Neer Foundation.

The water from the pond will recharge the underground aquifers. It will also be used for agricultural purposes as well as for rearing livestock and other general uses. The proper channelisation of water in the pond will avoid water logging in the village.

"We are committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and rejuvenation of this pond in Rajpura village in Meerut district helps us serve communities in our neighbourhood. Our goal is to conserve water resources and ensure sustainable water usage for the future. We believe that by working together with the local communities, we can create a positive impact and make a meaningful contribution towards conserving our planet's natural resources," said Taruna Soi, Chairperson, Max Healthcare Foundation.

Max Healthcare has committed to becoming a water-neutral company by reducing its water consumption and replenishing the same amount of water it uses. The company used 6.66 lakh kilo litres of water in 2023-24 and it recycled 4.46 Lakh Kilo Litres. Max Healthcare aims to achieve its goal of water neutrality by March 2025.

This is the second pond rejuvenated by Max Healthcare Foundation in Uttar Pradesh. The first project was in Ghaziabad district.
