Mumbai, December 06, 2023: Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) has initiated the third edition of 'Art for Hope,' a program supporting Indian artists, wherein a grant of Rs 40 Lakh is earmarked for 25 artists and 5 art collectives as part of this phase. The grant application is open until December 09, 2023.
'Art for Hope’ acts as a platform for collaboration and growth opportunities for youth, women, and artists across India. Additionally, a special component, 'Ability for Dignity', offers grants and an upskilling program for 10 specially-abled artists.
Applications for 'Art for Hope 2024' are invited in Visual Art, Digital Arts, Performance Arts, Folk and Traditional Arts, and Community Arts categories for both individual artists and collectives. The program, aimed at executing projects on environmental, social, and community-centric themes, will culminate in an art festival showcasing the artworks and grant projects in New Delhi.
Commenting on ‘Art for Hope 2024’, Mr. Puneet Anand, AVP & Vertical Head - Corporate Affairs, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, "Hyundai Motor India has been a nurturer of creativity and innovation, and using art for making a meaningful change for future generations under Hyundai's global CSV (Creating Shared Value) philosophy of 'CONTINUE'. Through 'Art for Hope', Hyundai is not merely organizing an art program, it is investing in the hopes and dreams of aspiring artists, providing them with the resources and recognition they need to flourish.”
He added, “This year, in addition to our existing grant program and in alignment with ‘Samarth’ initiative, we have introduced - ‘Ability for Dignity’ towards achieving the global vision of “Progress for Humanity”. A special grant for specially abled artists, where we will not just give them a grant but upskill them and provide them avenues for sustainable income generation. We are confident that this year too, we will be able to make a positive impact in the lives of deserving individuals and uncover the hidden talents across the nation”.
In the past two editions, 'Art for Hope' has awarded 60 grants to artists across 20 states, focusing on themes related to the environment, social issues, and community welfare. Public exhibitions held at New Delhi's Bikaner House and Chennai's InKo Centre have collectively attracted over 5000 visitors.
A five-member jury will evaluate grant applications based on project concepts, artists' backgrounds, and the community impact of the projects.
