Mumbai, December 3, 2024: Huhtamaki India has launched a vocational training program aimed at equipping 100 youth, mostly women, in Rudrapur and Silvassa with essential industry skills. The initiative, in partnership with the InShakti Foundation, is focused on bridging skill gaps in sectors such as healthcare, logistics, and apparel.
The training courses will range from 200 to 250 hours, offering participants industry-relevant skills. In the healthcare sector, the program will cover patient care, life support, and emergency response, creating employment opportunities and enabling participants to serve their communities. In logistics, the courses will focus on transportation documentation, supply chain management, and warehouse operations. Additionally, a Sewing Machine Operation course will be introduced in Silvassa to provide training in the apparel sector. The aim is to meet local job market needs and offer placement opportunities in hospitals, nursing homes, manufacturing companies, and showrooms in the region.
Deep Banerjee, Head of HR at Huhtamaki India, stated, “This initiative is born from our belief that every individual deserves the chance to dream big and achieve more. By bringing industry-led skills to rural India, we’re not just training people; we’re helping them write their own success stories. When we empower youth, especially women, with the right skills, we’re not just changing their lives, we’re uplifting entire families and communities.”
This program aligns with Huhtamaki's broader CSR efforts, which focus on gender equality, education, women empowerment, environmental sustainability, and rural development. Through such initiatives, the company aims to create a future where gender equality, economic opportunity, and self-sufficiency are accessible to all.
