New Delhi, July 2025: Henkel Adhesive Technologies has launched India’s first mid-haul re-powered electric truck operations for commercial logistics, marking a significant step toward greener transport solutions in the country. The initiative has been executed in collaboration with a logistics and transport solutions provider and an EV retrofitting partner.

The pilot logistics routes span key industrial corridors, including Chennai to Pune (1,321 km) and Pune to Halol (713 km), and are expected to demonstrate the viability of electric transport over mid-range distances.

The re-powered trucks are equipped with a full electric powertrain kit, offering a payload capacity of up to 8 tons and a range of 250 km per charge. A single round trip on the Chennai–Pune route is projected to reduce approximately 1,212 kg of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, showcasing the environmental benefits of transitioning to electric logistics.

"For Henkel, mitigating climate change is a core element of our climate strategy," the company stated. "To achieve our net-zero target, we aim for at least 90 percent absolute emission reductions through abatement across at least 95 percent of all scope 1 and 2 emissions and across 90 percent of all scope 3 emissions by 2045. We intend to reduce emissions from upstream and downstream value chain activities by focusing on eco design, low-emission materials, supplier engagement and carbon-efficient logistics. This shift from conventional drivetrains toward sustainable alternatives such as re-powered electric trucks will go a long way in abating our logistics emissions."

The company emphasized that this pilot initiative is part of its larger ambition to decarbonize operations and influence sustainable practices across the logistics value chain. By investing in re-powered electric mobility, Henkel aims to not only reduce its environmental impact but also lead the adoption of innovative green technologies within India’s commercial transport sector.
