New Delhi, April 30, 2024: Consumer healthcare company Haleon India in collaboration with environmental NGO Green Yatra has inaugurated the Otrivin Miyawaki Urban Forest Project in Delhi’s Dwarka. With the planting initiated in October 2022, this effort has seen the nurturing of 35,000 saplings representing over 40 indigenous tree species. This project represents Otrivin’s ‘Breathe Clean’ initiative that is making strides in creating a greener, healthier environment for all.
In addition to senior management from Haleon India and Green Yatra, Shri Rajiv Manjhi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, graced the event as Chief Guest, addressing pressing environmental challenges and emphasizing on the critical role of community-led conservation efforts.
It was a delight to see the enthusiastic students from Queens Valley School, Sector-8, Dwarka, New Delhi, exemplifying the spirit of youth leadership in sustainability.
Speaking at the inauguration, Rajiv Manjhi, Joint Secretary, MoHFW, Government of India, said, "This initiative is a testament to the power of collective action towards a more sustainable future. This initiative by Green Yatra, fully funded by Haleon India (erstwhile GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare), aligns closely with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11, 13, 15, and 17, demonstrating the company’s commitment to global sustainability objectives.

The environmental benefits of this endeavor are far-reaching. The Miyawaki forest acts as a natural carbon sink, aiding in the absorption of greenhouse gases and mitigating the effects of climate change. Additionally, the project promotes soil health, water retention, and purification, contributing to the overall resilience of our ecosystem. The forest will become self-sufficient after 2-3 years of care, making it an ideal greening option for the densely packed city.
