New Delhi, June 02, 2023. Club Med, the pioneer of premium all-inclusive holidays, has announced the launch of the 2023 Green Week Edition. The initiative signifies Club Med's unwavering commitment to promoting sustainability and embracing green practices. Building upon the success of the inaugural event, the 2023 Green Week Edition marks Club Med's second edition dedicated to raising awareness about pressing environmental issues and inspiring positive change.

Club Med's 2023 Green Week Edition, spanning across multiple Asia Pacific resorts, aims to foster a profound connection with nature and cultivate a deep appreciation for the environment. Through a carefully curated range of vital themes, this event holds the key to a sustainable future.

Embracing the spirit of World Environment Day, the Green Week Edition will commence on June 5, 2023, with a strong focus on addressing the issue of plastic waste. Guests and employees alike will actively participate in beach and mountain clean-ups, united in their commitment to making a tangible impact.

The different themes and activities include:

Day 1, June 5, Theme: Plastics
The first day would be highlighting the issue of plastic pollution by organizing a resort-wide clean-up activity. Arts & Craft workshops for the children, emphasizing the importance of sustainability, will be conducted.

Day 2, June 6, Theme: Biodiversity
The second day is dedicated to exploring and appreciating local biodiversity. Participants will engage in activities such as seeding plants, allowing their creativity to flourish through upcycling arts and crafts inspired by local animals. To enhance the learning experience, there will be an interactive Kahoot Quiz

Day 3, June 7, Theme: Solidarity
On the third day, Club Med will demonstrate its commitment to supporting local communities and development efforts. Emblematic events, in collaboration with La Fondation, will take place in all resorts, fostering a sense of connection and solidarity among participants. A special worldwide snack will provide an opportunity for everyone to come together and show their support.

Day 4, June 8, Theme: Local Culture
The fourth day will immerse guests in the vibrant local culture. They will have the chance to experience the destination through various activities, including engaging in local cooking demonstrations and classes, savoring the flavors of local products at the restaurant, exploring local markets (where available), and discovering unique offerings at the boutique. To enhance the cultural immersion, an Asian Elegant dress code will be encouraged.

Day 5, June 9, Theme: Food Waste
The final day of the Green Week, Club Med will focus on addressing the issue of food waste. With the understanding that around 30% of food is wasted globally each year, the resort is determined to make a positive impact. Guests will be invited to take part in an exciting cooking challenge, where they can showcase their culinary skills and creativity by using every ingredient provided, leaving no food to waste. Moreover, children will have a chance to actively participate by creating bird feeders using fruit shells, combining fun with a sense of environmental responsibility. It will be a day filled with valuable insights and practical steps towards a greener future.

“Sustainability has always been a key strategic pillar of the Club Med brand values. We believe that we have an innate responsibility to respect the communities and natural environment in which our resorts are located in,” said Rachael Harding, Chief Executive Officer of Club Med in East, South Asia and Pacific markets. “We aim to strengthen this vision as we progress further, deepen sentiments for more socially-conscious decisions across every aspect of our business and ignite a collective spark amongst guests, employees and partners to embrace Club Med’s commitment towards global sustainable tourism.”

Club Med's 2023 Green Week Edition represents a significant milestone in sustainable tourism, setting an example for the industry as a whole. By providing a platform for education, engagement, and action, Club Med empowers individuals to become agents of change, contributing to a more sustainable and responsible future.
