Mumbai, February 12, 2024: BookASmile, the charity arm of BookMyShow, has joined forces with Sound Space Foundation to introduce a choir program in five municipal schools across Mumbai. The initiative aims to provide students aged 8 to 14 from marginalized backgrounds with access to music education and empowerment through structured vocal training and choir performances.
The choir program, introduced as an extra-curricular activity, offers students the opportunity to explore music as an art form and develop their vocal talents. Led by instructors trained in classical music and various Indian vernacular languages, along with English and African languages, the program focuses on fostering a love for music among the youth.
Supported by BookASmile, the initiative has positively impacted over 100 students across 135 classes, enriching their lives through the power of music. The selection process for the program was inclusive, with teachers identifying passionate students and conducting auditions to gauge their interest and commitment.
Through weekly sessions held after school hours, participating students have immersed themselves in the world of music, honing their musical abilities and broadening their perspectives. Beyond academic pursuits, the choir program has instilled a sense of appreciation for the arts and contributed to improved focus in students' studies.
