Bajaj Foundation’s DHYEYA Program Brings Together 70 Civil Society Organizations To Foster Sustainable Development Skills

Wardha (Maharashtra), Oct 24, 2024: Bajaj Foundation’s training-cum-capacity building program DHYEYA brought together over 100 representatives from 70 civil society organizations across 14 states of India to foster leadership and sustainable development skills.

The 4th edition of the DHYEYA program, a five-day national exposure and capacity-building workshop, successfully concluded recently at Yatri Nivas, Sevagram. Jointly organized by Kamalnayan Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation and Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, New Delhi, this initiative brought together over 100 representatives from 70 civil society organizations across 14 states of India to foster leadership and sustainable development skills.

The program commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by dignitaries, followed by a soulful performance of Maharashtra’s traditional music by Kale as part of the cultural segment. Uday Shankar Singh, CEO of Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, set the tone by explaining the program’s objectives and vision.

K K Singh, Vice-Chancellor of MGAHV, highlighted the importance of the role of social organizations. Padmashri Subhash Palekar shared his vision of rural development aligned with Gandhiji’s philosophy, emphasizing natural farming techniques. The regional manager of Bajaj Foundation, Mahendra Phate, provided an overview of the Foundation’s initiatives in Wardha, focusing on water resource management and sustainable agriculture.

On the third day, participants undertook field visits to explore sustainable practices firsthand. The visits included Thangavel Date Palm and Dragon Fruit Farm, where they learned innovative farming techniques; Rachna Natural Farm, to gain insights into natural farming methods; river revival and check dam sites, where they engaged with students involved in the design for change initiative, understanding water conservation efforts; Sanjay Ghumde Farm, where participants interacted with farmers about the "Self-Reliant Family" concept and smart marketing strategies.

The concluding ceremony on October 19 featured an address by Dr Gopal Paliwal, from the Natural Beekeeping and Research Center in Wardha. He emphasized the importance of rural livelihoods and employment opportunities while lauding the impact of the program. The event also included reflections from participants, with many expressing their appreciation for the knowledge and insights gained over the five days.

Mahendra Phate, Regional Program Manager, Kamalnayan Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation, and Uday Shankar Singh, CEO of Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, were present at the closing ceremony to congratulate the participants.

The DHYEYA program concluded on a high note, successfully empowering participants with the tools and knowledge to drive positive change in their communities through sustainable practices and leadership development.
