Ambuja Cements Promotes Plastic Waste Management in Vadnagar

Delhi, November 24, 2024: Ambuja Cements, a part of the Adani Group, has implemented a community-led plastic waste management initiative in Vadnagar village, Gir Somnath district, Gujarat.

As part of its Lighthouse Initiative, the company’s CSR team collaborated with the Vadnagar Gram Panchayat to organize local waste collectors into a Self-Help Group (SHG). This group is responsible for collecting and segregating plastic waste, which is repurposed by Ambuja Cements as an alternative fuel at its Ambujanagar plant.

The initiative provides dual benefits by addressing plastic waste and creating sustainable livelihoods for the community. By incentivizing waste collection, Ambuja Cements has enabled community members to actively participate in maintaining a cleaner environment while earning a source of income.
