New Delhi, January 14, 2026: To mark National Road Safety Month, Zomato has rolled out a multi-city road safety initiative focused on converting awareness into measurable, on-ground action for its delivery partners. The programme combines mandatory responsible driving training with the distribution of more than 2,000 BIS-certified helmets.
The initiative prioritises structured, hands-on training delivered by traffic police and certified professionals. Its first phase was conducted in Delhi in collaboration with the Delhi Traffic Police and included a bike rally to reinforce responsible riding practices. Similar traffic police-led sessions are planned across cities such as Chandigarh, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune, using Traffic Training Parks to simulate real-world road conditions in controlled environments.
Commenting on the initiative, Aditya Mangla, CEO, Zomato said, “Delivery partners are the backbone of our business and their safety and wellbeing is and continues to be a top priority. Through this initiative, we aim to empower delivery partners with the knowledge and practical skills around road safety, enabling them to make better decisions and respond effectively in critical situations.”
As part of the programme, delivery partners will undergo 90–120 minutes of professional training focused on responsible driving in high-density urban traffic, safe following distances and anticipating road risks. The curriculum also covers the ‘Golden Hour’ protocol—the critical first hour after an accident—equipping partners with basic first-aid and emergency response skills that can improve outcomes during emergencies. Additional modules address helmet maintenance, the importance of BIS-certified chin straps, helmet lifespan, and adherence to traffic rules and penalties.
Zomato has also strengthened safety measures across the delivery lifecycle. Safety briefings are mandatory before delivery partners begin work, with daily safety pledges emphasising helmet use, road discipline and responsible riding. During active deliveries, partners receive real-time weather updates and precautionary alerts via the delivery partner app, along with access to a 24×7 in-app SOS feature for rapid ambulance support. All delivery partners are covered under comprehensive insurance.
Through this multi-city initiative, Zomato aims to reinforce a culture of safer riding, improve preparedness for emergencies, and support delivery partner wellbeing with a comprehensive, end-to-end road safety framework.
