Young Students Showcase Innovations at National Science Day Hosted by Literacy India

New Delhi, 28 February 2024: Literacy India, a non-profit working for supporting quality education and empowerment in underprivileged communities, celebrated National Science Day where young innovators showcased their projects related to robotics and IoT and other areas.

Cantered on the theme 'Empowering through Science,' the event provided a platform for children to demonstrate their technical skills and creativity where as many as 29 students from underprivileged backgrounds displayed their projects. All these students were trained by Literacy India.

One of the student, Dheeraj, presented an "Anti-Collision System" during the event. The 13-year-old participant had visiting ISRO earlier with the support of Literacy India.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajneesh Wadhwa, Director – Strategic Partnerships & Development at Literacy India, “Empowering innovation with empathy and collaboration, our initiatives strive to transform lives and unlock the potential of the underprivileged. Together, we're not merely educating; we're crafting a world brimming with opportunities and dreams.”

Victor Ghoshe, Writer, Lecturer, and Development Strategy Specialist, stated, “Design thinking is not just about solving problems; it's about transforming perspectives, opening minds, and unlocking limitless potential. I thank Literacy India for initiating this unique design Thinking Program for young adults for the first time in India and for inviting me to design and develop the 6-month-long program and facilitate all the sessions in Hindi.”

The event also set the stage for future endeavours. The organisers now plan to submit projects/concepts/prototypes for Project Development Grants under guidance from former experts from Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) - a part of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Anay Pathak, Global Account Executive,  Alliances & WW GSI Partnership, Dell Technologies, said, “At Literacy India, I saw incredible potential within each child. The work is not just about education; it's about giving them the tools and support to express their creativity and achieve their dreams. Witnessing their projects reminds me of the power of opportunity and mentorship. It's a reflection of my belief that every child, given the chance, can overcome obstacles and thrive.”

Hemant Kumar Gupta, Former Director, Technology Development Fund, DRDO, Govt. of India, added, “It was wonderful experience to watch students eagerly presenting how the solutions they showcased could be applied to solve many pressing issues.”
