Bangalore, 3rd February 2025: Volvo Group India recently organized a STEM education workshop at Kendriya Vidyalaya, DRDO, Bangalore, as part of its ongoing efforts to foster gender diversity in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The initiative, called Yukti, aims to inspire young girls to explore STEM-related career paths by providing practical exposure to cutting-edge technologies.

The workshop, which saw the participation of over 240 students from Grades VIII and IX, featured engaging activities designed to spark curiosity and empower girls to pursue careers in technology and engineering. It was attended by Mr. Kamal Bali, President and Managing Director of Volvo Group India, and Ms. Radhika Nair, Head of People & Culture at Volvo Group India.

During the event, Mr. Bali highlighted the company’s commitment to inspiring the next generation of women in STEM. “At Volvo Group India, we are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment where education and industry converge to drive sustainable progress. Through initiatives like Yukti, we are taking a significant step toward shaping the future of our industry by inspiring young girls to explore careers in STEM,” said Mr. Bali. He also emphasized the importance of partnerships with educational institutions in bridging the gap between academia and industry.

The workshop included several immersive activities such as a Virtual Reality (VR) experience that allowed students to explore Volvo's advanced technologies, a session on Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision, and a Robotics workshop where participants designed and programmed robots. Students also engaged in problem-solving activities involving miniature engines and data science.

Radhika Nair emphasized the company's commitment to diversity and inclusion, saying, “As part of Volvo Group's commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, we aim to inspire young girls in India to break barriers and pursue careers in STEM, shaping the next generation of technology leaders.”

The Yukti program is part of Volvo Group India's broader mission to drive impactful change in STEM education. By offering students hands-on learning experiences, the company aims to equip the next generation with the skills needed to excel in the rapidly evolving technology and automotive industries.
