New Delhi, November 28, 2024: The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), Dwarka, hosted an inspiring workshop on storytelling, designed to empower teachers with creative tools to transform classroom learning. The session focused on equipping educators with storytelling techniques and cultural activity strategies that they can implement to engage and inspire their students.
The session was led by Deepali Raina, founder of Potli Productions, an organization dedicated to fostering creative expression. The workshop focused on the art of storytelling, with a special emphasis on voice modulation and narrative techniques. Teachers actively participated in group exercises, developing strategies to implement these skills in their classrooms, thereby empowering their students to explore creativity and self-expression. The teachers were also trained on designing action plans for incorporating cultural activities in schools. These plans emphasized engaging students in storytelling, role-playing, and creative arts to build connections with India's cultural heritage while nurturing essential life skills.
The workshop was part of CCRT’s broader training initiative aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates for integrating creative arts into education to make learning more engaging and experiential. By utilizing storytelling, puppetry, and other artistic mediums, the program enables teachers to act as facilitators of imaginative learning, where students can enhance their cognitive, emotional, and social skills.
Highlighting the transformative potential of storytelling, Deepali remarked, “Storytelling is a tool to inspire curiosity and creativity in young minds. By sharing stories in the classroom, teachers can help students build connections, think critically, and express themselves confidently. This workshop aimed to empower educators to be catalysts for their students’ imaginative journeys.”
Participants appreciated the workshop’s focus on real-world applications, leaving them motivated to use storytelling as a medium to enrich the learning experiences of their students. This initiative underscores CCRT’s dedication to fostering creativity and cultural awareness in education, shaping classrooms into vibrant spaces of holistic growth.
