Mumbai, October 26, 2023: Pizza Hut, leading restaurant chain and international franchise, has inaugurated its most sustainable store in Mahim, Mumbai. This initiative is part of their global mission "Recipe for Good Growth," which places importance on people, the planet, and food. Pizza Hut's efforts contribute to Yum! Brands' goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

The Mahim restaurant incorporates energy efficiency, responsible material usage, and wastewater management. With a 17 kWP solar plant generating 58 kWh of solar units daily, the store saves INR 300K annually and reduces its carbon footprint by 35-50%. An Energy Management System (EMS) further ensures power usage is monitored and controlled, resulting in an average 5-6% savings. The restaurant also features a rainwater harvesting system, which utilizes RO wastewater for cleaning, conserving 3.9 lakh litres of water each year.

Commenting on this restaurant at Mahim, Asif Mahmud, Chief Development Officer at Pizza Hut, Yum! Restaurants India, said, “At Pizza Hut, we are dedicated to running a purpose-driven business, where our foremost commitment is providing our customers with the best taste and service. Simultaneously, we are deeply invested in cultivating practices that not only enrich the present but also contribute to a brighter future for our customers, the community, and the environment. The Mahim store serves as a model for us and has given an impetus to our efforts in pioneering a green future.”

Pizza Hut prioritizes 'Made in India' suppliers for key equipment, thereby supporting the local economy and reducing carbon footprint. Additionally, in daily operations, the organisation is committed to environmental sustainability, ensuring the elimination of single-use plastics from its packaging, employing paper straws and wooden cutlery, and responsibly sourcing ingredients.
