Mumbai, August 22, 2025: Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), the CSR implementing agency of Kotak Mahindra Group, has launched a large-scale teacher capacity building program covering more than 300 PM SHRI schools across 13 districts of Maharashtra.

The initiative is designed to empower teachers with leadership skills, innovative pedagogy, and digital tools, strengthening classroom practices and improving student learning outcomes in line with the goals of NIPUN Bharat.

The program focuses on four key areas—Leadership Development, Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), Communicative English, and Pedagogical Technology (PedTech). It provides on-ground support through regular school visits, interactive workshops, and assistance in daily teaching practices to ensure training translates into impactful classroom learning.

Speaking on the initiative, Ms. Sangita Dandapat, Project Head, FLN, Kotak Education Foundation, said:  Through the PM SHRI Capacity Building Program, we are investing in our greatest asset, our teachers. By equipping them with leadership skills, innovative pedagogies, and foundational learning, we are not just enhancing classrooms learning, we are shaping futures. The program ensures that quality learning reaches every child, in every corner of our districts.”

The program aims to foster a culture of excellence by equipping educators with 21st-century skills and technological know-how, ensuring students benefit from engaging and outcome-driven learning experiences. With a sustained focus on capacity building, KEF is working towards long-term, scalable impact in the education sector.

The PM SHRI scheme, launched by the Government of India, aims to develop over 14,500 schools into model institutions with experiential, inclusive, and student-centered pedagogy. KEF, marking two decades of impactful work, has been actively engaged in strengthening school leadership, building teacher capabilities, and enhancing student development across multiple states.

As part of its broader efforts, KEF also runs initiatives such as Project KSHAMATA, the Kotak Kanya Scholarship, Kotak Junior Scholarship, and the Unnati Program, focusing on systemic school transformation, higher education access, and livelihood training for youth from under-resourced communities.
