Bengaluru, July 21, 2025: HealthEdge®, in partnership with United Way of Hyderabad, has announced the successful transformation of the Government Higher Primary School (GHPS) in Dinnahalli, Karnataka, under their joint School Transformation Program. The initiative is part of their continued nationwide effort to improve access to quality education by upgrading infrastructure in under-resourced schools across India.
Located in Malur taluk, Kolar district, on the outskirts of Bangalore, GHPS Dinnahalli previously faced severe challenges due to poor infrastructure, lack of clean drinking water, and inadequate sanitation facilities, all of which negatively affected learning outcomes and student attendance. The recent intervention has addressed these issues with upgraded classrooms, clean water access, functional sanitation, and the introduction of digital learning tools.
“For years, schools like GHPS Dinnahalli have represented the broader systemic challenges of rural India, where basic resources often remain inaccessible,” said Heather Bender, Chief People Officer, HealthEdge. “Our initiative is more than just infrastructure improvement. It is about restoring hope and creating opportunities for future generations. Every child deserves access to quality education and a conducive learning environment.”
The initiative is part of a wider mission to close the learning gap in rural areas. As per NITI Aayog’s School Education Quality Index, more than 40% of rural schools in India continue to lack essential facilities such as electricity, toilets, and potable water—deficiencies that disproportionately impact adolescent girls and first-generation learners.
“Every child deserves access to quality education in a safe and supportive environment,” said Rekha Srinivasan, CEO, United Way of Hyderabad. “Our partnership with HealthEdge is helping us strengthen the learning ecosystem at GHPS Dinnahalli by addressing these foundational gaps. The upgraded classrooms and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) facilities will not only improve learning conditions but also boost enrollment and support adolescent girls with dignified sanitation access.”
The newly renovated school was inaugurated in the presence of Smt. Chandrakala, Block Education Officer of Malur Block, along with community members, school staff, and representatives from HealthEdge, reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility and community engagement.
Looking ahead, the partnership plans to scale this initiative to two additional schools in Maharashtra and Karnataka, with continued emphasis on sustainability, digital inclusion, and systemic improvement.
The HealthEdge-United Way of Hyderabad School Transformation Program aims to create inclusive and resilient educational ecosystems for underserved communities in India.
