Noida, August 11, 2023: HCLFoundation, the driving force behind HCLTech's corporate social responsibility (CSR) endeavors in India, has embarked on a remarkable journey towards environmental conservation. To celebrate the 47th anniversary of the HCL Group, the foundation proudly announced the planting of over 47,000 saplings of diverse native species across the length and breadth of the nation.
The monumental plantation drive was executed across several prominent cities including Chennai, Madurai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Lucknow, Vijayawada, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Hardoi, Thoothukudi, North and South 24 Paraganas, and Noida. Eager to embrace this green movement were not just HCLTech employees but also their family members, NGO partners, community volunteers, school students, and women’s groups. Together, they joined hands to participate in planting activities held in government schools, forested regions, HCLTech campuses, and allocated lands designated for extensive afforestation.
Having successfully planted over 1.45 million saplings across the country to date, HCL Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to catalyzing a positive environmental impact. This impressive feat resonates with HCLTech’s overarching CSR objectives, which are rooted in contributing to socio-economic growth and environmental enhancement. This profound commitment is also aligned with the eight National Missions outlined in the Government of India's National Action Plan for Climate Change and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
“We are committed to supercharging progress towards climate action. We are proud of the active participation from our employees, partners, women groups, students and community members, whose support has been instrumental in making this plantation drive a grand success,” said Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, Vice President, Global CSR, HCLFoundation.
As HCLFoundation continues to tread the path of meaningful initiatives, this monumental plantation drive serves as both a tribute to the HCL Group's illustrious journey and a testament to their joint vision of a greener, healthier, and more sustainable India.
