Edumedha organizes inaugural Career and Skill Fair for underprivileged students

New Delhi, January 11, 2024: Edumedha, a social initiative by JIMS, hosted its first ever Career and Skill Fair, 2024, for underprivileged children from various Child Care Institutions. The event took place at JIMS Technical Campus, Rohini Sector-5 on January 5th.

About 28 Child Care Institutions, with over 400 students from classes 9th to 12th, participated in the event. The primary objective was to guide and inspire children residing in Child Care Institutions toward their academic journeys and future careers.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Krishan Kumar, IAS, Director Women and Child Development Department, Delhi. As the Chief Guest of the event, he addressed the students on the importance of education and career guidance.

Event Highlights:

- Achievers Award Distribution: The Achiever's Awards were presented to students who overcame challenges in Child Care Institutions, serving as inspirational figures.

- Motivational Session: Dr. Anupama Saxena, Principal of Gargi School, conducted a motivational session, reshaping students' perspectives towards a brighter future.

- Knowledge about scholarships and technical, non-technical courses: Four expert panellists discussed career guidance, covering defence and government jobs, technical and non-technical courses, degree courses, and various scholarships.

- Unlocking career excellence through industry-driven skill training courses: Panellists from various companies including GMR Foundation, Tech Mahindra Foundation, Bosch India Foundation, Sudhir Foundation, ICICI Foundation, Hotel Taj and Haldiram Skill Academy shared knowledge on market-driven skill courses, job opportunities, and admission criteria. Ms. Kalpana Singh moderated the session.

The event concluded with one-on-one course counselling at stalls by field experts and a stream guidance session for 9th and 10th graders, led by Ms. Ruchika, Principal of M.R Global School, assisting students in aligning their academic choices with their passions and interests.

The Mega Career & Skill Fair successfully provided valuable insights and guidance to underprivileged students, fostering a sense of empowerment and motivation for their future endeavours.
