Faridabad, June 10, 2025: The Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation at Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and education on World Environment Day through its Raddi Recycling Initiative. The initiative has successfully repurposed 55,000 kilograms of wastepaper and cardboard into notebooks for children studying in government schools and NGOs.

Since its launch in 2022, the Raddi Recycling Initiative has been steadily recycling discarded materials into notebooks for students who need them most. Wastepaper collected across the Manav Rachna campus is recycled into notebooks, which are distributed to schools such as Govt. Senior Secondary School in Lakkarpur, Ankhir, Bhankri, and NGOs like the Loria Pragatisheel Research and Development Foundation.

To date, more than 25,000 notebooks have been created, with 15,000 already reaching students, reflecting the Foundation’s dual focus on environmental stewardship and educational access.

Dr. Vaishali Mathur, Senior Program Manager at the Foundation, shared, “This initiative reflects our drive to link sustainability with education. By turning wastepaper into useful learning material, we are setting an example of how even small actions can make a difference.”

Dr. N. C. Wadhwa, Director General, MREI and Vice Chairman, Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation, said, “Behind every recycled notebook is the effort of students, staff, and volunteers who believe in creating impact through collective action. This project reflects our values of giving back, minimizing waste, and enabling learning for all.”

Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI and Chairperson, Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation, added, “This initiative carries forward Dr. O.P. Bhalla’s vision of an inclusive and empowered India with deep compassion. It not only combines care for the environment and children’s education but also inspires a sense of togetherness and hope. What makes it truly meaningful is the shared commitment of every individual who joins hands to create a better future for our children.”

The Foundation continues to host year-round collection drives, converting campus-generated waste into impactful resources.
