Mumbai, November 16, 2023: Capri Sports strengthened their commitment to advancing sports accessibility for young girls in marginalized communities with an investment exceeding INR 5 crore under the 'Beyond The Scorecard' program. Announced on Children’s Day, the initiative aims to break barriers and provide valuable life lessons through sports. Capri Sports has partnered with Project Khel, an Uttar Pradesh-based organization, to impart life skills and promote healthy gender dynamics through after-school programs and tournaments for over 500 low-income children.
Jinisha Sharma, Director at Capri Sports said “Access to sports for young girls transcends mere play; it is the gateway to empowerment, education, health, and societal transformation. It illuminates a path toward a brighter, more inclusive future, ensuring every girl has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully to her community and beyond."
The project also addresses historical gatekeeping, supporting community-led workshops to encourage women's participation in sports.
While women are the strongest pillars of growth in any community, their potential and development is unfortunately stunted by their lack of access to key facilities such as education, sports & health. With direct correlations to employment opportunities, quality of life, and even equal say in household decisions, it is imperative to invest in gender equality and the intentional creation of level playing fields within fundamental areas of personal development. Capri Sports is aiming to achieve this through partnerships with multiple organizations. The collaboration with Project Khel is their first step in this direction.
