Mumbai, May 13, 2024: Capgemini, in partnership with Nasscom Foundation, has trained and certified more than 700 youths from disadvantaged backgrounds through the AI for Skilling program. The initiative was implemented in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru and aims to prepare young individuals for employment in an AI-driven economy.
The program included 200 hours of training—over 140 hours focused on technical skills in areas like generative AI, robotics, and fintech, and more than 60 hours dedicated to soft skills development. It is part of Capgemini’s broader Digital Academy initiative, which provides digital skills training across India.
Ashwin Yardi, CEO – India, Capgemini, said, “AI is shaping a bold new era of work—one where innovation, inclusion, and human potential thrive together. Through Capgemini’s Digital Academy, in partnership with Nasscom Foundation, we are bridging the digital divide—equipping the youth with industry-relevant AI and technology skills for meaningful careers. This initiative is also fuelled by the passion of our employee volunteers, who mentor and guide learners, reinforcing our commitment to inclusive growth. Congratulations to our first cohort of graduates—the future is yours to lead and transform!"
Jyoti Sharma, CEO, Nasscom Foundation, added, “AI is not just reshaping industries, it’s redefining the future of work. Our collaboration with Capgemini, under the AI for Skilling initiative, reflects our shared vision of an inclusive digital economy, where marginalized youth have the opportunity to participate and break barriers to AI access. By enabling future-ready skills and focusing on foundational, core-work skills, we are investing in the potential of India’s youth to fully embrace evolving digital opportunities.”
In addition to classroom training, the program offered expert sessions by industry professionals, aptitude-building modules, awareness sessions, and exposure to corporate environments through volunteer engagement and industry visits.
With the first phase completed, the initiative is now preparing for its next stage, which will focus on advanced technologies and DeepTech domains. The long-term objective is to create sustainable, tech-driven career paths for underserved youth, contributing to a more inclusive and skilled workforce.
