GENERAL REPORT ABOUT ACTIVITIES OF VARISHTH NAGRIK SAMITI , (SANGTHAN) BIJNOR FOR THE YEAR 2015-2016 , (1) Yog Classes and Pranayam conducted daily between 5.00 A.M. and 6.30 A.M. in Bijnor Club. About 20 persons participate daily. , (2) The sizeable number of members of Working Committee assembled in office on all working days between 11.0 A.M. to 1.30 P.M. and performed the following functions : , (i) 120 new members were enrolled during the year. , (ii) Personal problems of 3 members were resolved with the help of their family members at their residences. Also took assistance of S.P. Bijnor in some cases. , (iii) Correspondence with Central and State Government offices, Banks and L.I.C. about matters related to the Senior Citizens. , (3) Distributed Ration worth Rs. 500/- to each of the 15 destitute Senior Citizens on first day of each calendar month during the year in the morning at about 10.00 A.M. The D.M. and S.P. Bijnor were involved to motivate and encourage the persons who gave donation for this purpose. , (4) Blankets and wollen clothes were distributed to 15 destitutes in winter season. , (5) Free checking of blood sugar and blood pressure of about 30 citizens were done on each Sunday of the year in the office premises of the Sangthan. A record is also maintained for this activity. , (6) Arranged consultation with Orthopaedic specialist, Dr. N.K. Sharma, of Delhi in Bijnor club on last Sundayof each month. About 300 patients were benefitted. , (7) Simiarly, arranged free medical consultation for about 1500 patients with local specialist Doctors in Medicines (Dr. Satyapal Setia M.D.) and other Ayurvedic and Homeopathic Doctors on last Sunday of the month in Bijnor Club during the year. , (8) A sports meet was arranged on 21-02-2016 in Bijnor Club for the members of the Sangthan and prizes were distributed. The event was followed by Lunch. , (9) The Physiotherapy Centres are run, one at Bijnor and other at Najibabad, for the medical treatment of Sr. Citizens of the area. About 5000 patients were treated at both centres during the year. , (10) The International Senior Citizens day was celeberated in Raj Milan Banquet Hall at Bijnor. About 550 Sr. Citizens from various places of the district participated. Tea, snacks and lunch were served to the participants. , (11) Heritage Tours of Haridwar and Hastinapur were arranged for the Senior Citizens. 45 members made use of the events both times. , (12) Annual Magazine of the Sangthan Sandhya Jyoti was published and distributed free to the members. It contained material from eminent writers about protection of welfare and health as well as other schemes beneficial to the interest of Senior Citizens. , (13) As was done in previous years, the Calendar of the year 2016 was got printed and distributed free to the members. The Calender also mentioned about the activities of the Sangthan so that needy persons may get benefitted by the information. , (14) The office conveyed good wishes to its members on their individual date of birth and wedding anniversary, wishing them a happy and prosperous life. , (15) A special get-together was arranged on January 1, 2016 in the office at the occasion of New Year. 43 members who were born on January 1, were felicitated on the occasion with the suitable gifts to them.
