Taraknath Maternity and Child Welfare Centre

Taraknath Maternity and Child Welfare Centre is an independent Non Government Organization which is instrumental in making lives of not only local people living in Tarakeswar Block, but for the district of Hooghly and also more meaningful to the society. The organization was established in 1973 by the inspiration of some promising ideal personalities like Late Dr. Harisadhan Dutta and his eleven stalwarts like Dr. Moni Kr. Chhetri, Dr. S.N. Chowdhury, Dr. Kanai Ch. Pal, Dr. Chandra Sekhar Dhara, Sri Kalidas Mallick, etc. This centre caters service in the area of health, education, nutrition, Sanitation and many socio- economic spheres with care and caution. The on going projects from those thousands of people of un-served and underserved areas are benefited are as follows: , (1) ASHA Training Programme- NRHM (Govt. of India & Govt. of W.B.) , (2) I.C.D.S. Training Programme for the AWW & AAW Helper ( Govt. of West Bengal ) , (3) Reproductive Child Health Programme (Govt. of India & Govt. of W.B.) , (4) Total Sanitation Programme ( Govt. of West Bengal) , (5) Sponsorship programme (Through Children International- U.S.A.) , (6) Water Testing Lavoratory (Govt. Of West Bengal) , (7) Immunization Programme (Govt. Of West Bengal) , (8) Vivekananda Swasthya Pariseva Prakalpo ( Through Ramkrishna Mission) , (9) Dental Care Unit , (10) Mahila Mondal Tailoring Unit. , , It is a matter of pride and passion that the Govt. of India has declared Nirmal Gram Puraskar to Seven Gram Panchayets of Tarakesar Block, working with us under GO- NGO partnership on Total Sanitation Programme. , Taraknath Maternity and Child Welfare Centre had been worked in the field of Reproductive Child Health II for the last eight year as a nodal agency with the assistance of four partners NGO. The entire works are implemented under the guidance of the District Health Officials and also the related Block Health Officials. , In this regard, we tired our level best for the upliftment of the RCH indicators e.g. Early registration of Pregnant women, Full antenatal Check up of the Pregnant Women, increasing of Institutional Delivery, Modern family Planning, Prevention of early marriage, Prevention of neonatal mortality, Prevention of maternal mortality etc. and the fact is that almost of all indicators are in better position than before by tiring our efforts. , We have just completed in the very last year ASHA Training Programme of Hooghly District under NRHM. We are testing drinking water for the three blocks of HooghlyDistrict i.e. Tarakeswar, Janmgipara, Haripal Block. , Taraknath Maternity and Child Welfare Centre is now working as district training centre for 6&7 Module ASHAs Training for the distract of Hooghly, West Bengal. , ICDS Training It is running from 1982, approx 10,000 trainees successfully trained-up from here , Immunization - This our self financing programme we have been able to provide Immunizations to 1, 50,000 beneficiaries from the inception day of the Institution
