Special features of the organization

SWAPNOCHAR entered into the arena with its first-ever production Harano Prabhat (The Lost Dawn) on 9th July, 2000. The group ventured its glorious journey with a bunch of spirited youths with Md. Selim at its helm. Surpassing torrents of turmoil and thorn ridden path, the dream chariot of SWAPNACHAR has reached its youth leaving past an exciting adolescence. From its initiation till today SWAPNOCHARs kitty is full with some notable productions like Kalo Ghora (Black Stallion) in 2001. Poetry and physical acting merged in the making of its 2002 production Unmad Bikshipto Somayer Tarjama (Interpretation of the Insane, Tumultuous Time). With this production SWAPNOCHAR succeeded in attracting the curiosity of the cultured community. In the meantime, besides theatrical activities, SWAPNOCHAR published Ghoon, a literary magazine. It has also touched the heart of serious readers of Bengal. Our next production Mukhosh (Mask) (2003) received overwhelming applause both as a street play and a proscenium play. SWAPNACHAR was invited to present this production in the Kolkata Natyamela (Theatre Festival) 2003 organized by the W B Government. In 2004 we produced 21er Diary (Diary of the 21st Century) that depicts the new-wave psyche and life-style of Gen-Y. The play revolves round the decaying and corrupt ethos of the present day socio-economic life that gives birth to crippled thoughts. We were again invited to the W B Government Theatre Festival to stage this play in 2004. Spectators still fondly remember the ripples it created on the psyche of the conscious and caring theatre-goers.
