Special features of the organization
The organization was established in 1986 with the objectives to eradicate poverty, illiteracy and superstition for the establishment of a peaceful, nonviolent & just society. In the beginning of the organization from 1987 we undertook the activities on child education, awareness of rural people, vocational training of the women and unemployed youth. After that we implemented various activities in 15 villages under Bhagwanpur I block in Purba Medinipur district. During this time we run 15 Non formal education centres, vocational training cum production centre on weaving, tailoring, wool knitting, carpentry, plantation, excavation of about 150 ponds, training on organic farming, construction of 50 compost pits, 300 low cost toilets & 800 smokeless Chullahs for ecological development, installation of shallow tube wells for agriculture development, installation of 17 tube wells for supplying drinking water, small savings & micro finance with about 1,000 women, etc. , From 2001 we are working on Water & sanitation for both community and schools. Total 160 community tube wells and 25 school water supply programmes have been implemented in Purba Midnapur district. Very recent five big water filtration plants have been installed in five high schools. , Besides this one eye care centre namely VIDYASAGAR EYE CARE CENTRE has been established in 2002 to control blindness and provide eye treatment facilities to the local people in very low cost/free of cost. This centre has license from local Govt. Health Department. . Total about 5,000 cataract operations have been done through this centre so far. Under national programme for control blindness (NPCB) we are receiving grant from local district health department for free cataract operation of the poor people. Screening camps are being organized different remote villages to identify the cataract patients. , Moreover, we are running a nursery school namely HAMATMA GANDHI SISHU SIKSHA SADAN from 2003 to provide all-round better quality education to the children of this area with moderate fees. There is total 383 students are now in this school. Besides regular school education we are imparting training on Yoga, drawing, dance, games and sports etc. to our students. Regular reports are being submitted to local Govt. school authority/department. , To perform all these activities this organization has been able to raise fund various state, national and international donor agencies like BFW, EZE Germany, IDS, India Abroad USA, Water Aid U.K. HAVE & Rotary Club of Haliburton Canada, CAPART New Delhi, Social Welfare advisory board, New Delhi, Rotary Club of Belur, Gandhi Peace Centre Hydrabad, Gandhi Smriti & Darshan Samity, New Delhi, IGSSS, New Delhi, Nehru Yuba Kendra, and many local generous donors. , The organization was established in 1986 with the objectives to eradicate poverty, illiteracy and superstition for the establishment of a peaceful, nonviolent & just society.
