SANDARBHA

Sandarbha was established on 13th September 1977. It is very difficult to exist for continue 38 years and struggle against all opposition. It was the dark days of emergency period when we started our journey with the Drama of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore. Sandarbha has, of course, drawn the attention of the dramatic world in the year 1998 under the leadership of Dr. Soumitra Basu. From 1998 to 2009 Sandarbha has produced the dramas Jajatio, Bijorito, Murkir Handi, Shani Mangal, Godier Khonje, Jeevan Japan, Padotika, Patan Diner Gaan, Gahvar, Tuntuni Lo, Aparahata, America Abishkar, Bidushok, Big Bazar and Mangoler Katha, Nirbas. Offlet Sandarbha has become one of the superior theatre groups of Kolkata by its remarkable successful productions. Our performances have been staged on various renowned auditoriums in and outside of Kolkata. Apart from Kolkata (West Bengal), we have performed in Bhopal, Indore, Pune, Chandigarh and Delhi. , Besides the productions Sandarbha attemps to perform some other works that express its social awareness. We conducted several educative and cultural lectures and seminars based on theatre and on different social aspects. , We also perticipated in walks and rallies against AIDS and War. We performed several street plays to encourage the campaign against social abuses. , Sandarbha s production have been very popular and have earned awards like Paschim Banga Natya Akademi Puraskar, Jyotsna Makha Smriti Puraskar, Sayak Puraskar, Prerana Puraskar and Sottyen Mitra Smriti Puraskar etc.
