Saheed Shibsankar Seba Samity (SSSS) is a Martyr s memorial erected to the memory of Shibsankar Chowdhury, who laid his life while upholding human values. Shibsankar fought for the freedom of his mother land, suffered in jail for years and in his life time became a legendary figure through his social, humanitarian and philanthropic services to the people in distress. To carry forward the glorious heritage that he left before us, Saheed Shibsankar Seba Samity has its foundation on May 23, 1978. , Objects: , SSSS is not another hospital or a V.O where curative health care is usually offered to ailing people. It is an institution where preventive health awareness actions are encouraged, health education is offered with a view to make people conscious about healthy living. That is why SSSS is striving to evolve all the constituents of a comprehensive health care delivery where the main emphasis is on unleashing popular initiative for social action. It also attempts to act as an inter-face-agency between the ailing people and the curative centers. The meager curative services SSSS provides help also to develop a bondage with the people in distress. The preventive health programs that SSSS adheres to are basically a three way scheme-(i) Early Detection of illness in a particular community and Identification of the underlying causes (ii) Immunization against some recognized diseases which take a great toll of life and (iii) Health Education. , SSSS Strives to: Assist and Co-operate with the Central and State Govt. in all its health care efforts: , Provide minimum curative services to the ailing people. , Organize awareness campaign on AIDS, TB, Thalassaemia , Cancer, Blindness control , Running a NACO Assisted Licensed Blood Bank as per rules and specifications to provide safe blood to the needy. , Running MNGO Scheme in Burdwan District under RCH-II to provide Mother& Child care program in the remote rural areas. , Awareness campaign, identifying causes of common diseases like malaria, encephalitis, gastro-enteritis , Dengue, Viral Hepatitis, Bird flu, Swine flu & other viral diseases , Leprosy , Organize seminars, workshops with help of posters, models, LCD projectors, OHP, on air and water pollution, safe drinking water, sanitation, nutrition, drug addiction, personal & area cleanliness, healthy habits, against superstition & promotion of scientific attitudes. , Organize Health checkup Camps for Primary, Nursery & Adolescents girls in secondary schools. , SSSS with its limited infrastructure provides: , OPD with general medicine, G&O, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Dermatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Chest, Surgery, Orthopedics, Dental, E.N.T & Eye in different days of the week. Poorer section is provided with free medicine for 3 days. , Well equipped laboratory with all types of pathology, Histopathology, Biochemical tests at a moderate cost. , Ambulance Service, Physiotherapy, E.C.G at affordable cost. , Publish a quarterly journal on health related problems, scientific awareness , Running a public library with more than 8500 books & journals to cater the need of all cross section of people.
