ROOP DARSHAN

Roopdarshan was founded in 1987 with the objective of enacting of plays of social awareness. In theses 27 years, we have staged as many as 11 numbers of full acts and 3 short plays of social relevance. We staged plays of reputed playwright and writer like Badal Sarkar, Sunil Gangopadhyay and Ujjal Chattopadhyay. They had come to see their own creation staged by us and appreciated to the full extent. But achievement of a voluntary group like us should not be judged only on account of the reasons cited above. Truly, this should be judged by the hard effort put by us for serious theatre for promoting awareness of moral values and social responsibility among the mass. Only we can add that while doing so, we had the achievement to the fact that we could associate eminent theatre personalities like Tapas Sen, Joy Sen, Murari Roy Chowdhury, Shyamal Chakrabarty, who from time to time acted as our light designer, music director and drama director. Our short plays Bikram O Adalat got 1st prize in many one act competition held in West Bengal. Our satire play Corner Plot acclaimed by the critics and audience as one of the best comedy plays produced in this state.
