In the year 1995, at Berhampore, a new name came up in the theatre world , RANGASRAM . Rangasram was established with a noble motto to build up actors, actress and directors in Berhampore, which is such a small town where the cultural infrastructure is very poor and in Berhampore there was no such Institution where proper and scientific lessons were given for theatre. , , From this need of providing proper and scientific method of theatre, for the theatre workers, Rangasram was established, where many brilliant and efficient directors tried their level best to do something for theatre and to provide some proper scientific lesson to the theatre workers. Under guidance of some scholars and N.S.D pass out directors like, Siddhartha Chakroborty, Partha Banerjee, Sandip Bhattacharya. Rangasram has produced some brilliant productions, like Bijan Bhattacharya s Garvabati Janani, Uru Bhangam, and Madhyanya Surya, Mobarak an adaptation of Shakeapeare s Macbeth, Monideepa which has received five best awards in Kolkata, Lohar Daam , Nayan Kobirer Pala etc. , , In the year 2004-05 it was handed over to Mr. Sandip Bhattacharya. , Rangasram is working with efficient theatre workers under the leadership of Sandip Bhattacharya, who is a pass out of National School of Drama in 1994. , , Rangasram traveled and taken part in prestigious festivals with the productions in various places in India, like Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Coochbihar etc. Rangasram s new play Monideepa has achieved 5 best awards in kolkata, also has taken part in Bharat Rang Mahotsav organized by National School of Drama, New Delhi.
