Special features of the organization
Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University is a multi-campus University, under the aegis of the Ramakrishna Mission. The University came into existence in July 2005. Declared as deemed-to-be-university by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, the University has its head office at Belur and operates through its various off-campus Faculty centers located at different branch centers of Ramakrishna Mission. , , Thrust areas of the University: , , 1. Fundamental Sciences - Integrated teaching and research , , Other Activities: , , For Rural Development, the University has set up 14 Village Resource Centres (VRCs) under a project called Vivekdisha with the assistance of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) to impart tele-education, tele-medicine services, value education programmes in schools, and interaction with self-help groups etc in rural areas of West Bengal and Jharkhand.
