Special features of the organization
In the year 2002 some educated youths decided to do some social work, so they came together and started a welfare organization. In the summer months to meet the shortfall of blood they began with a BLOOD DONATION CAMP For nearly a week they campaigned throughout the local area and its neighborhood requesting people to donate blood explaining to one and all, that donating blood is essential, as all of us need it at the time of sickness, operation, natural calamities etc. The response from the citizens was good as 200 people donated blood. , In the beginning we called himself Youth Forum but later we changed the name to RAGHUNATHPUR ALO . , Thus began the journey of Raghunathpur Alo. Every year in the month of July a Blood Donation is organized along with an Eye Check-up camp, ECG, Blood Sugar Check-up is done free of cost, mostly for poor people from the backward classes who cannot afford it. Water is provided to people who visit deferent fair, Charak Mela and also Book fair. Also those who are in need of medical attention are taken to hospital, dead people are taken for cremations etc, and all these are done voluntary by the ALO members. , In the year 2010 a charitable hospital was established in memory of late Jayanta Naskar who was a well-respected teacher. The hospital was named Jayanta Naskar Memorial Charitable Dispensary. Dr I. Islam(Eye), Dr. J.N.ROY(M.D), Dr. Hussain(Homeopath) visit patient there. Every Wednesday Dr. Hussain(Homeopath) visits the dispensary, treats and provides medicines to poor people free of cost. Alo S member Chandana Roy assists the visiting doctors. Dr J.N.ROY(M.D, Aleopathic), Dr I. Islam(Eyespecialist)also provide their expertise free of cost. Nearly 70-100 patients are treated every week. , In 2007 during the floods of AYLA nearly two truckload of garments, biscuits, bottles drinking water were taken to Sunderban area of West Bengal and distributed to the affected people. During that time all the members of ALO and the local people came forward to help.
