The organisation is to develop an enlightened, empowered and self-sustained rural community both materially and morally. The mission of AICMED is enlightenment and empowerment, particularly of the poor and the underprivileged, with special emphasis on women and the tribal people. The major objectives are, To encourage and develop adult education programme as a part of the development programme. To encourage and promote voluntary actions in the rural areas in favour of rural development and introduction of advanced technology. To organise workshop and prepare teaching and learning materials for various programme. To orient adult education functionaries and development activists of different levels so that they can undertake adult education and developmental programmes independently. To undertake research and promotional work to develop and sharpen existing technologies and methodologies of rural development.
