Special features of the organization
Nandimukh is a theatre organization founded by late Ajitesh Bandopadhyay. He was not only an institution for Bengali theatre but also was considered a trend setter in natural theatre. Nandimukh started its journey on 9th Sept. 1977 and some milestones of theatre both in content and form have been established by late Ajitesh Bandopadhyay. A few such milestones are Sherafgan from Italian playwright Leuigi Pirandello, Paap-punya from Russian Philosopher Tolstoy, Tetrish Tamo Janmodibas from English Nobel laureate playwright Harold Pinter s The Birthday Party, Nana Ranger Din and Prastab from Russian playwright Anton Chekov and Ajitsh bandopadhyay s original drama Soudagarer Nouka . In the year 1982 Tetrish Tamo Janmodibash honoured as a best directed play by Ajitesh bandopadhyay of that year by the Paschim Banga Natya Academy , Govt. of West Bengal. , , The other well known theatre organization of Bengal Nandikar founded in 1960 was also the brain child of late Ajitesh Bandopadhyay and in unavoidable circumstances he left Nandikar and Nandimukh steps into the theatre arena. Nandimukh cannot be considered as successor of Nandikar in view of the fact that both the organizations are engaged in performance simultaneously. , , It can not be denied that there was a vacuum after Ajitesh Bandopadhyay breathed his last in the year 1983. After overcoming the shock of departure the great Guru, Ashoke Chattopadhyay, his close disciple took the charge and continuing till date. , , The first production of Ashoke Chattopadhyay Thik To Thik an adaptation from Pirandello s original Right you are if you think so This production staged nearly fifty times in Calcutta and suburbs and later it had televised in Kolkata Doordarshan Kendra. Gradually Nandimukh performed Abastha Jaruri from Mrozek, the Polish playwright, Shanu from J. Anouilh, Yadi Eka from black platwright Leroi Jones, Dristi Simay from American Playwright Arther Miller, and Bhoot from Sangeet Natak Academy winner playwright Sri Mohit Chattopadhyay who was also acclaimed the Best Drama award by Paschim Banga Natya Academy, Govt. of West Bengal for the drama Bhoot , Again Nandimukh staged Mr. Right written by Mohit Chattopadhyay and music composed by the eminent composer Kalyan Sen Barat, Nathuram from Tirthankar Chanda, and Parthibo written by Ashok Chattopadhyay based on Anton Chekov s Short story The Bet . Nandimukh next performed Tetrish Tamo Janmodibas with a new explanation and dimension to project the present time. This production has performed before an audience of EZCC Saltlake auditorium after getting the invitation from EZCC Kolkata. , , At present Yadidang and Bini Paiser Makkel is staging by Nandimukh and preparing another new production Ekti Manush Chai inspired from a folk tale of India. , Apart from play producing the organization celebrated the completion of Thirty third years in Bengali theatre at Sisir Mancha on 9th September 2009, with the presence of Mohit Chattopadhyay and Dr. Ranjit Kr. Samadder Officer of special duty of EZCC, Kolkata and has published a magazine with valuable articles of eminent theatre mastero. , Apart from that Nandimukh is arranging voice training workshops, recitation training with the whole timers and non-whole timers in regular course.
