Special features of the organization

Madhyamgram Kalyan Samiti founded as far back as in 1950 with the influx of Refugees for East Pakistan and registered under West Bengal Societies Registration Act Vide No. 20772/428 dated 22/12/1952 (and renewed uptodate). Initially engaged in various activities relating to rehabilitation and relief work for the refugees hailing in Madhyamgram, under the great patronisation of the respectable freedom fighters like Arun Chandra Guha, MP and Deputy Minister, Government of India, Dr. Jiban Ratan Dhar, MLA, Minister, Government of West Bengal, Dr. Phulurenu Guha, renowned Social Worker of the locality initiated constructive activities like establishment of a Maternity and Child Welfare Centre with the financial grant from Government of India, two Social Welfare and Balwadi Centres under West Bengal Social Welfare Board, extensive relief works for the Refugees by distributing free meals, garments, medicine, etc, conduct of Adult Education centre, training of women in Sewing Machine, Dyeing and printing centre for women, pioneering the establishment of schools to different levels, establishment of a public library and reading room, Drawing and Recitation School etc. etc.
