Special features of the organization
We conducted house hold survey in one of our targated village to understand the baseline of socio economic situation , Participatory resource survey and its pattern of utilisation had been done in the said tribal dominated village Kankutia of Birbhum Local youths of the community had prepare a map of the water resources livestock map seasonality of the existing livestock diseases Plantation census and posibilities of further plantation etc , Awareness offish culture with scientific knowledge among tribal fishers with keeping their traditional practices in tact had been developed , Periodical Veterinary health camp had regular been conducted in colaboration with Block ARDD GoWB to protect the existing livestock , Regularly observation of World Environment Day and awareness on environment protection organising camp and through distribution and plantation of fruit trees in villages to combat with the climate change A periodical survey is conducted to monitor its survivality , Capacity building on aquaculture agriculture animal husbandry group mobilisation participatory resource mapping is going on through the years by the way of group meeting awareness programmes sharing of experiences from different areas and also by the way of demonstration , LIFE had been organising medical camps which received unexpectedly overwhelming response from the villagers of Kankutia a tribal dominated village of Birbhum in West Bengal The objectives of this camps were to identify and ascertain at a very besic level the predominent health issues of the village as well as to assess the awareness level of its inhabitants reputed doctors along with the LIFE team including local volunteers visited the village to conduct a health survey while the camp s were in progress , LIFE celebrets the Joy of Giving every years by making gift of Cloths to the marginalised and vernerable people of different age sex race and cast of that village at the eve of SARODOTSAV so that every villagers can participate the forthcoming largest festival of the Begali people with new cloths according to the ritual A large number of villagers along with the distinguish members from LIFE and PRs from Gram Panchyat Panchyat Samiti and Zilla Parishad participate in the programme to witness the smiling faces of the boys girls men and wemen of the community with the new gifted cloths These were possible only due to support from our well wishers , LIFE in accordence with its vision has started to organise football tournament among the nebouring youth from this year That tournament was dedicated to the memories of our respected founder president Prof Anil kumar Sarkar
