Special features of the organization
Institute For Motivating Self Employment popularly known as IMSE is a voluntary social organization of national repute working in the field of rural and urban development for more than last four decades. IMSE headquarters is located at Kolkata and its working areas are spread over a few hundred remote villages in West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha. IMSE has made significant progress in terms of implementing a good number of projects for the development of the poorest of the poor particularly rural and poor women and children in hundreds of villages of its working areas. The major activities of IMSE includes explaining to the people about hunger from a rights perspective, mobilizing poor to access productive resources without discrimination, animators training for promoting genuine agrarian reform to safeguard rights of small & marginal peasants and agricultural labourers, empowering indigenous communities to attain their rights, gender mainstreaming in all its activities and some gender specific activities like self help group promotion, training of anganwadi workers, running of short stay home, training of women panchayat members and so on. Promotion of sustainable agriculture and land and water management for protection of the ecology and environment are also two major programmes of IMSE. IMSE has played important role in developing various networks of NGOs CSOs working in the various fields of development.
