IITD has trained approximately 6000 development personnel right from the grass root to execute level. IITD has the distinction of being recognized as a center of excellence in training and development. IITD is also working on community based disaster preparedness and response programme in Kakdwip sub division. Water and sanitation - a way to development project which is an integrated holistic development project where safe drinking water by the installation of tube wells in Kakdwip sub division inspiring direct involvement of the benificiaries with the concept of ownership.The SHGs have developed a handsome fund for supporting needy women in emergency as for starting new economic initiative. IITD is providing health services such as sanitation, prevention of diseases, family welfare, malnutrition, immunization , detection of cervical cancer , health awareness in 30 villages of Kakdwip Block. IITD is implementing HIV / AIDS prevention and control project among migrant labour from 2000 to 2005 and among Female sex workers from 2006 to till under West Bengal State AIDS Prevention and Control Society for promotion of safe sex in high risk population through counselling, condom distribution, ICTC testing, STI treatment
