INDIAN CENTRE FOR SPACE PHYSICS

1. ICSP has achieved a unique distinction of becoming a SISTER ORGANIZATION of Calcutta University at par with Centrally funded organizations such as S.N. Bose Centre, Bose Institute, IACS, ISI, SINP, etc. in Kolkata region. , 2. It has produced over 35 PhD students who received Degree from Calcutta and Jadavpur Universities. , 3. It has participated in Major payload making projects and three of such payloads were flown to space by Russian satellite. , 4. Its low cost Balloon borne program to do space based experiments at a height of 40 km is Internationally recognized. , 5. Its has published hundreds of well cited papers in refereed journals. Three patents are pending. , 6. State Government kept ICSP as a shortlisted Institutes of excellence who are funded with higher priority. , 7. It has several permanent, semi- permanent and contractual staff members. , 8. Its Midnapore campus (Ionospheric and Earthquake Research Centre) is being equipped with a 20 Optical Telescope, largest in the State and east India. , 9. Its By-Pass campus, land of which was given by the State Government, is being built and the head quarter will be shifted there soon. , 10. The payload X-ray Spectroscopy from Lunar Surface (XSLS) is being scheduled to be launched in 2017/2018 for science done from the Lunar Surface.
