Compass, Cooch Behar came into existence in the year 1992. The sole motto of this theatre group is to make theatre workers through scientific method and to share with the human values through Productions. Every year we organize a theatre festival. Many renowned teams from different corners of Bengal and other states participated in our festival. In the year 2007 we organized a International Theatre Festival at Cooch Behar. In the year 1995 our Production AMOD performed at Jorhat, Assam NSD Theatre Workshop. In the year 2001 our Production Akasher Opare Akash invited at Bharat Ranga Mahotsav,New Delhi, Ganayan Natyotsav, Bangladesh and Ganakrishthi Festival, Kolkata. We worked in many awareness programme with Consumers Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal, Unicef, Ministry of Petrolium, Government of India . We also organized Production Oriented Theatre Workshop with the prisoners at Correctional Home, Cooch Behar, Inmates of Government Girls Home, Cooch Behar and also organized four Production Oriented Theatre Workshop with School Children of Cooch Behar district with the help of Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Human Resource Development Department, Government of India.. We have so far produced 9(nine) full length plays and five one act plays and 14(fourteen) street plays during the span of 17 years. Our remarkable productions are DEWAN GAJIR KISSA (Written by Asadujjaman Nur,Bangladesh, Directed by Debabrata Acharya), BITE (Written & Directed by Debabrata Acharjya), MAHUA UPAKSHAN ( Written & Directed by Debabrata Acharya), GHORAR DIMER GOPPO (Written by Kaushik Chattopaddhyay, Directed by Partha Bandyopaddhyay), ABORTO ( Written & Directed by Debabrata Acharya) , HEU (Written by Saumitra Basu and Directed by Debabrata Acharya), CHOP ADALAT CHALCHE( Directed by Debabrata Acharya). In the year 2010 MAHUA UPAKSHAN awarded with Academy award by West Begal Government as the best full length play.
