Special features of the organization
Apart from regular artistic film screening, we hold Seminars, Adda (informal discussion on certain issues) on film and allied arts say, Literature, Music, Painting, Sculpture, Social, Socio-political issues etc. We also publish a news bulletin of our organization with the title Cine Guild, Bulletin which consists of articles on some specific issues such as tribute to the just deceased dignatories (obituary), centenary tribute to the noted personalities in the field of art and culture, organizational news, film criticism, article on very contemporary socio-political issues, programme news etc. This news bulletin is a bimonthly one and is generally published at least 5 issues a year. We also publish a magazine titled as Prasanga Chalacchitra . We have so far published 16 issues of this magazine. Our financial constarint is the main reason for not publishing the magazine once a year. Our last 4 issues have been widely acclaimed by the people and critic. The 13th issue focussed on the relation of film art with other art mediums , namely literature, music, poetry, painting etc. and also gave a brief presentation on the people whose birth centenary is falling between 2000 & 2005. The next issue was on ace cinematographer Subrata Mitra. The 15th issue was on film director Tapan Sinha. The last one that is 16th issue was on art director Banshi Chandragupta. We have organised Painting exhibition,Photography exhibition, Science exhibition , exhibition of books and magazines etc a no. of times before and for last 2 years we are doing these programme ritually during the time of Annual Film Festivals being organised in collaboration with local Municipality.We have also organised Health Check-up camp for the aged people and for the vegetable and fish sellers of the local market in the last year.We organise at least one slide show on trekking, one drama by invited drama group, one picnic of the members of the society, one musical evening and a vijaya sammilani every year for last 4 years. We have organised film appreciation course in the past with the particiaption of local college students.
