Chandannagar Paribesh Unnayan Samity is a leading environmental organisation in Hooghly district,West Bengal,India working out various environmental promotional and protective programmes in Chandannagar and surrounding areas.Our year-round work schedule comprises of Awareness programmes ,namely ,seminars ,meetings in schools ,colleges,padayatras(rally) ,exhibitions ,debates and public speaking competitions for school and collage students ,publication and literature including a-bilingual annual magazine with valuable contributions from eminent environment scientists ,conferring PARIBESH BANDHU(The friend of environment) to the best environment activists in the localities each year.All these are intended for spreading environmental message to the citizens. , Action programmes namely campaign against anti-plastic carry bag use ,anti-air horn use ,garbage clearance ,waste management ,vat construction ,sale of vermi-manures ,awarding Jagadhatri Puja Paribesh Shiromani trophy to the best puja , committees among 115 of them judged on the basis of some environment norms every year , large scale tree plantation(more than 1000 in last 10 years) ,setting up herbal and flower gardens etc for motivating people to voluntary work. , Negotiation programmes namely taking up the environmental issues and problems with the Municipal authorities ,Police ,Sub Divisional Officer ,District Magistrate ,Savadhipati ,WBPCB etc as the case requires. , As in the previous years ,this year too ,we are going to celebrate WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY on 5th June 2010 on the occasion of which we are going to publish our annual magazine with SUSTHA PARIBESH.Last year ,the then Governor Sri Gopal Krishna Gandhi sent and excellent for our magazine.
